III International Competition for Young Opera Singers named after Sergey Lemeshev

  • From June 29 to July 7, 2024, the Tver Academic Regional Philharmonic will hold the III International Competition of Young Opera Singers named after Sergey Lemeshev. Outstanding Russian tenor, native of the Tver region, soloist of Bolshoi Theater, People's Artist of the USSR Sergei Yakovlevich Lemeshev with his talent and work as an opera performer glorified his small homeland far beyond the borders of our country.

    The purpose of the competition is to popularize academic vocal art. Developing the creative potential and opportunities for youth to realize their potential in the field of culture is one of the key objectives of state policy. 

    The III International Competition of Young Opera Singers named after Sergei Lemeshev will demonstrate the achievements of talented vocalists from Russia and abroad.

  • The competition will be held in 3 rounds. All competitive auditions will be held in the large concert hall of the Tver Academic Philharmonic, thus, residents of our region will be able to hear many masterpieces of Russian and foreign opera music. The performances of the contestants are assessed by an international team of an authoritative jury, headed by the Honored Artist of Russia, People's Artist of the Republic of Bashkortostan, director - artistic director of the Tver Academic Philharmonic, Vladimir Belov.

    Students and graduates of higher educational institutions, soloists of opera and musical theaters, concert organizations in our country and abroad aged 20 to 32 are invited to participate in the competition.

    The competition will conclude with a large Gala concert on the stage of the Tver Academic Drama Theater, in which the winners of the competition will take part, accompanied by the Governor's Chamber Orchestra "Russian Camerata".

  • The winners of the competition will be awarded 6 prizes and a Grand Prix, the awards will be based on the results of the audition.
    Grand Prix – 1 prize 350,000 rubles.
    1st prize winner – 2 prizes of 200,000 rubles each.
    2nd prize winner – 2 prizes of 150,000 rubles each.
    3rd prize winner – 2 prizes of 100,000 rubles each.

  • Students and graduates of higher educational institutions, soloists of opera and musical theaters, concert organizations in our country and abroad aged 20 to 32 are invited to participate in the competition.

  • 1. Documents for participation in the competition are accepted from April 1 to June 12, 2024.
    2. The participant must fill out the application form
    3. Along with the application, a package of documents is sent to the email address lemeshev-konkurs@mail.ru.

    The letter marked “LEMESHEV COMPETITION” should contain:
    – Completed application form;
    – A scanned copy of current passport;
    – Repertoire of all rounds (Word format); for the 3rd round (with an orchestra) it is necessary to give the most complete information about compositions: author, title of the opera, act, title of the aria, initial text. In the case of performing an aria with recitative, it must be indicated;
    – Scanned copy of Graduate Diploma or certificate from an educational institution (for students);
    – Photo, 3 MB Minimum (Studio photography only);
    – A professional biography in English (Word format).

    The entry fee is 3000 rubles.
    Foreign participants pay the entry fee upon registration on the day of arrival.

  • I round (no more than 15 minutes, accompanied by piano)

    – Russian folk song or folk song of the participant’s country.

    – Aria of the 17th – 18th centuries.

    – An expanded aria by a Russian or foreign composer of the 19th – 20th centuries.

    II round (no more than 15 minutes, accompanied by piano)

    – Classical romance by a Russian or foreign composer.

    – An expanded aria from an opera by a Western European composer of the 19th–20th centuries.

    – Aria from an opera by a Russian composer of the 19th–20th centuries.

    III round (no more than 10 minutes, accompanied by orchestra)

    – Aria from an opera by a Russian composer of the 19th – 20th centuries.

    – Aria from an opera by a Western European composer of the 18th–20th centuries.
